Celebrating Black History Month 🎉, upcoming events in SF & NYC + 2 exciting announcements
Hola Familia,
It was so wonderful to kickstart the new year with record attendance for our annual townhall! We loved reconnecting with our community and welcoming a wonderful group of 15 new members this year already. ❤️
Black History Month is important in Latine culture because we are intersectional, multi-ethnic and multi-racial. We need to celebrate and honor our many identities that make us unique and complete as a community, this month and every month 🫶🏾
In this issue, we’ll share two exciting announcements, information on La Familia events happening this month, 10+ VC job opportunities and more 🙌🏽
Revue was shut down by Twitter (pour one out) so we have migrated our newsletter to beehiiv! Love it? Hate it? Let us know! More change will come soon this year, promise.
We’re thrilled to share that VCFamilia is officially a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization! This has been critical for unlocking new funding opportunities and allies. As we head into our busiest year so far, we’re so thankful for your support of our mission.
If you would like to donate tax-deductible dollars towards our upcoming initiatives for Latine investors and founders, please do so here.
📣 Call for applications: Become a Chapter Lead
As we grow and scale, we’re continuing to prioritize our roots of being community-driven and volunteer-led. Our goal this year is to create more opportunities for serendipity and enhance the local community experience for our members.
If you’re interested in working closely with the VCF Board and team to create impact in your local ecosystem, apply to become a Chapter Lead here!
As a Chapter Lead, you will have the opportunity to engage with mission-aligned partners, gain exposure to our 10K+ global audience, receive operations and marketing support from our team, stipend to facilitate events, and more 🙌🏽
📅 Upcoming Events
Mark your calendars! We’re hitting the ground running with lots of opportunities to meet La Familia IRL this month.
2/7 – If you’re a Latine founder, join us for a curated, intimate dinner in NYC. Note: you must be a member of our community to RSVP here. If you’re not a member yet, apply to join FounderFamilia.
2/8 – After successful co-working days in SF & LA in January, we’re creating space for our community to build and share ideas IRL in NYC. RSVP here. We’ll have lunch catered courtesy of our wonderful partners at SVB!
2/15 – We’re kicking off our LP / GP dinner series with the first event in SF. If you’re a Latine GP or LP interested in allocating more capital to Latine fund managers, RSVP here. This event is private to GPs that are part of VCFamilia – if you’re not a member of our community and would like to attend, please apply to join the community.
2/16 – Our incredible partners at the Latino Business Action Network (LBAN) (did you miss our PR announcement last year?) are hosting the State of Latino Entrepreneurship summit in partnership with Stanford University. The panel discussions will facilitate a deeper conversation on their research findings, followed by a reception and Gala dinner.
