During the VCFamilia Awards, we'll be honoring:
- The VCFamilia Catalyst Award: Granted to an incredible General Partner leading a Fund I-III who has had a positive influence on the Latine community throughout their career.
- The VCFamilia Rising Star Award: Granted to an exceptional junior investor (non-GP) within the VCFamilia community who has demonstrated remarkable promise over their career, having achieved significant milestones (such as a promotion, acceptance into a fellowship or mentorship program, or the successful sourcing and execution of a significant deal) in the last 12 months.

Preview: Meet the Co-Founder - Oliver Sanchez 🇲🇽

Oliver Sanchez is a Mexican-born founder who is reimagining how cities and industries detect pests before the damage is done.

As a child in Tuxtla Gutiérrez, Chiapas, Oliver attended a school funded by the U.S. government to combat the spread of the screwworm fly. The school itself was part of a massive public health campaign: checkpoints, aerial releases, community mobilization, all to stop a single pest from reaching the border. That experience shaped his understanding of just how much effort and how much delay it takes to control something you didn’t see coming.

With Extrasense, Oliver is building a smarter, faster response. The company’s platform uses AI and low-cost cameras to detect rodents and insects the moment they appear, helping cities, food producers, and housing operators act before the first public complaint or health violation.
